"It is not enough to do your best; you must know what to do, and THEN do your best."

This saying aptly applies to mediator influence and the effect the mediator may have on the parties' efforts to arrive at a mutually satisfactory settlement. To be effective, mediator influence must be both skillfully and intentionally executed. This one-day program explores the key elements of mediator influence and the extent (or limit) they have on effecting a settlement. Primary topics addressed in the program are:

• External and Internal Sources of Mediator Influence

• External and Internal Impediments to Mediator Influence

• Executing Fundamental Skills to Enhance Mediator Influence

• Ethical Dimensions of Mediator Influence

While prior training and experience in mediation would be helpful, they are not necessary to participate in and benefit from the program. Mediators from all areas of practice, as well as other professionals, are welcome to register.

CLE Information:

West LegalEdcenter is procuring continuing legal education (CLE) credits on behalf of American Arbitration Association.  This program is available for CLE credits in Florida.  Credit amounts vary by attendance verification and jurisdictional rules.
